Consumption June 18, 2026 · 11:16 PM ▸
You begin your day by the unconscious consumption of the opinions of others and the life highlights of seemingly spectacular and beautiful people. You do this while you eat, not even consciously aware of the taste of the poison you stuff down your throat. You drive to work while listening to music, which was designed specifically to alter your subconscious mind, or to podcasts, which, again, are another person's opinions. You do whatever menial work is required by your supervisor and clock out for the day. You drive home and consume along the way. You eat dinner and watch television. Before bed, you grab your cell phone again and start mindlessly consuming.
Consider that the mind, like the body, eats. Your day is consumed by consumption. Your free time is encapsulated by consumptive restraint. You have no space to let your mind rest. Generate restraint of consumption, rather than letting consumption restrain you.
Bring space and absence back into your life. Live a balanced existence. A scattered brain cannot create space for creation. With constant consumption, you instead create an unnecessary exhaustion.
You have no time for anything. You're tired all the time.
In reality, you're just consuming too much. Put down the phone. Welcome back the limited time that you have been gifted to experience this both incredible and devastating world. Bring every moment you can into the conscious experience. Give up daydreaming... bring your dreams into your days.
